Do you like Helvetica? Yeah, me too. It’s like good vanilla ice cream. Certainly not as much razzmatazz as a Mint Chocolate Chip, but when you put some Vanilla next to some Apple Pie, it knows to play nicely and we’re all better off for it’s presence.
Helvetica plays nicely with a lot of things and this motion typography piece by Evan Shuster might give a hint as to why. Helvetica is grounded and balanced, a typeface confident in its surroundings. Whether its bold black on a white background or a thin light blue on navy background, helvetica can just hang out and communicate with the reader.
