Trying something new.
For a kid, everyday brings the possibility of trying something new. Their sphere of experience is so small, and their opportunities so great, that it’s pretty much a guarantee they’ll encounter something they haven’t seen, heard, tasted, touched or smelled before. Owen recently tried Rigatoni:
Rigatoni is a form of tube-shaped pasta of varying lengths and diameters.[1]It is larger than penne and ziti and sometimes slightly curved.[2] Rigatoni is usually ridged and the tube’s end, like ziti, but unlike penne, is square-cut, not diagonal.
Not that we told Owen any of this, or that it mattered, but perhaps someday he will find it of interest… probably not.
The point is, you can try something new without knowing exactly what it is, why you’re trying it, or how it will turn out. Owen didn’t like the rigatoni… but that doesn’t mean he won’t ever eat it again.
If you’ve got an idea for something new you want to try or do, just get out there and do it. You don’t need to spend an evening researching the subject’s entire history on wikipedia, or checking out opinions on the best way to do it on Yahoo answers. Just start, get into, and figure out once you’ve worked on it for a bit wether it’s something you should scrap or keep working on.
Or you could just do the same boring things you’ve been doing for the past 4 years.
